The beautiful Applecross Schoolhouse was originally built in 1875 and used by the head teacher of the adjoining school. Years later, the building is now a private residence which has just undergone its most recent refurbishment.
This included new slate clad extensions which matched the original slate roof and contrasted against the existing sandstone building. Internally, Norse Stone supplied 300mm x random length brushed riven flooring, creating its own contrast against the warmth of the oak joinery.
The use of natural stone and wood along with a carefully designed layout making the most of the views, ensures the house remains tied to its surrounding landscape.
