Hawking Memorial
West Minster Abbey, England

1/1
Designer: John Maine
Letter Cutter: Gillian Forbes
An extraordinary memorial made for an extraordinary person, the world known scientist, Professor Stephen Hawking.
Laid in Westminster Abbey, near fellow scientists Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin, a piece of stone from our Lieurary Quarry was specifically selected as, when polished, the dark colour perfectly represents deep space. The engraved rings surround a black centre alongside Hawking's equation which he used to express that a glow is emitted from black holes and they are not, in fact, completely black.
