Galson Estate Monument
Outer Hebrides, Scotland
The community-owned Galson estate, chose to celebrate and commemorate 100 years since the community resettled on the land. To mark this and some of the other local historic events, the estates trust, UOG, created a monument called 'na Dorsan'.
It features Caithness flagstone stop ends and a large 2m diameter circle which was made using two pieces of stone and featured a bespoke sandblasted design.
In 2025, this monument won one of the UK’s most prestigious art prizes, the PSSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture.
Designers: Will Maclean and Marian Leven
